I’m having three tumours in my liver surgically removed by robotic surgery next Wednesday. If anyone has had similar do you have any advice please?

  • Hi

Firstly, I wish you all the best for your surgery on Wednesday.

Although I've got no direct experience of this, I've been reading more and more about people having robo-assisted operations and its very much the future of surgery. It is more accurate and precise apparently. Would love to hear how you get on once you're feeling well enough after your op.

  • Thanks - will try!

  • I have heard the recovery is easier ! So that’s a big plus !

Hope it goes well for you !

  • Thanks a it did go well and I’ve just eaten some lunch.  I have a morphine pump to use but only used it twice.  I want first ti HDU and then onto EHU - I think the ward tomorrow.  Consultant said he was able to do everything with no complications use the Da Vinci Robot.  So, very pleased.

    Bless you!

  • That is amazing and quite different to my mum’s recovery ! If you don’t mind I will bookmark this thread as we don’t hear too much about the Robot Resections so it would be great for others to refer to!
You sound on a very strong position post op . More power to your elbow and long may it continue!

  • Thanks Court

I don’t feel quite so good today but they want to send me home this evening.  My surgeon told me today the op could not have gone better.  He identified the three tumours and removed them all with wide margins and my gall bladder.

I am very grateful if a bit sore!

Hi Sax. It sounds as if the op has gone well, so just rest up and get fit again.

I only have experience of bowel to lung and I will say that Rfa has been a God send to me. Rfa and new cyber knife etc can also remove rumours from liver and I think kidneys.

You will probably have plenty of ct scans coming up to watch on results which will hopefully show no more growth. Good luck Sax. RM

  • Did you get discharged
It is a big procedure to go through . My mum’s worst days were three and four as the oral meds took over !

    No place like home !

  • Yes I am home and watching Strictly!

All went well, surgeon said “it couldn’t have gone better” so very grateful for that along with all the prayers and support I have received.
