I should have had my operation on 19 August but it has been delayed. I had a cardiopulmonary test, which it was found I had Graves Disease (overactive thyroid) and atrial fibrillation. My surgery for the removal of my tumour is on 23 September. Has anyone else had similar problems?
Hi
Sorry to hear you have had a delay ! Things like this do crop up on the forum ! However one thing to remember the anaesthetist do a variety of different clinical list and will know how to address these issues ! They often take a few extra weeks to get things in a better place but they will know exactly how to manage it ! Are they offering treatment for it to stabilise it ?
Take care ,

That was a big learning curve for me ! My mum had a few surgeries with quite big delays and it did not seem to concern her team at all . Then I realised they know what they can achieve and how much room for manoeuvre they had so we went with it . Everyone went ahead as planned !
Hope your feeling ok with the treatment !

Hi plato
I had a similar experience last year
I urgently needed a hemi colectomy to remove a large ulcerated haemorraging caecal tumour
The first anaethetist said I wouldnt survive the surgery as I I have angina and lung disease. I went to a major heart and lung centre where a different anaesthetic team took charge
I went to critical care unit after surgery but they got me safely through the surgery following an action plan by a senior anaesthetist
Hope this helps. I had to wait a further month in which time I did lung exercises to get me in better condition
Kind regards
Mary
Hope you have a wonderful birthday !
So hard when delays happen as people do prepare themselves for the timescales they were given . However I think there will be a bit more of that . My local hospital is starting to struggle as we still have contact tracing !
You take care and I look forward to hearing you are safely through the surgery and pressing onwards to recovery !
Take care ,
