My husband will finish cycle 4 on Friday with a break until 2/9 or if scans are good (fingers crossed) straight to surgery.  Dont see oncologist until 31/8 so can’t get advice from her.

As he’s off chemo are we ok to go to a wedding on 28th August?

Thanks

  • Hi . My oncologist was happy for me to carry on life as normal as long as I wasn’t in any ‘high risk of infection’ situations. Do you have a Colorectal Support Nurse that you could ring? Failing that you could ring the nurses on here and ask their advice on 0808 808 00 00 x

  • Thanks.
I guess we will take the risk.

  • Hi Tweed,

I've had surgery and finished chemo the end of April. I went to a wedding at the end of July. I was still really careful but not too worried as most of the time we were outdoors. It was my nephew's wedding which I wouldn't have missed, even if I was still having chemo and had to wear a hazmat suit! I took a face mask and hand sanitiser with me. Maybe you could let people know that you have to be careful as not only do you not want your husband to pick up any infections, you don't want him to catch anything that may jeopardise his treatment or possible surgery. As Kareno62 suggested, the nurses' might be able to advise you. If it were me, I'd go. It'll be good for you both to do something nice before treatment starts again.

  • Thanks. He’s at RM Sutton today having all the scans! I think we will be careful and ask to sit near a window at the reception and away from any youth!!

We live with two 20+ sons so risk infection daily!!

    Life must go on…
