Hi there. I posted a couple of months back now about my dad’s stage 4 diagnosis. He has now undergone a week of radiotherapy with minimal side effects and is now just about to start chemo. The original plan was for him to have folflox but with a separate underlying health condition playing up it was decided that he should given a combination of oxaliplatin and raltitrexed. Has anyone got any experience of this combo of chemo as I can’t seem to find much info. Thanks in advance x
Hi Mac567. There’s lots on here who’ve had oxaliplatin but, as you say, not many on Raltitrexed. I’ve attached a link to the Macmillan page about it and I’m also going to tag in Missymoo2 to see if she can share some experience x
Hi there, I have had 4 cycles of that chemo duo and can only give you my personal experience. In Oct 2019 I started the first cycle, lots of nausea and sickness. Also you can't touch anything cold with Oxaliplatin, you have to wear gloves. It left me with neuropathy in my feet. I got through it and am still here so maybe your Dad should give it a go. Best wishes to you both and good luck.
