Bop. Hi Helen. Great to hear that you’re home and doing ok. Your Ileostomy will take a couple of weeks to settle down. Have you been told to take immodium/loperamide? You can generally take up to 8 a day - half an hour before a meal
Ive attached a link to a booklet that covers eating with a stoma. It’s important to stay hydrated with an overactive stoma but with out going mad and making it worse! You can lose a lot of electrolytes so often a sports drink or diarolyte can help.
Foods that can help slow things down and thicken your output are bread, bananas, rice, porridge, stewed apple, mash, marshmallows and wine gums!

I found some of the information on this site to be useful too

Hope this helps a bit
Take care

Hi Bop, Helen, I can't add anything to what Karen has said, so just to say that its good to know you are home and over the big hurdle. I'm sure the ileostomy will settle down with a little management and now you just have to take the recovery one step at a time.
All the best, John
Thank you another surgary in about 4 months to have it reverse then mop up chemo x
I am not knowledgeable on matters ileostomy, but I think Karen's advice is likely to be spot on. :D I just wanted to add my congratulations for getting through the surgery, and into convalesence. It can be a little alarming to suddenly seem weak, and struggle to do things, but I assure you, it will pass, and hopefully you will be up and a bout and a great deal better very soon!
Robin.
