Hello once more!
The saga continues, and the plot thickens! I spoke to the colorectal nursing team today, to inform them that my blood results should be ready for them (they have to call for them, as they are part of a different trust and system, so do not seem them automatically.) We discussed my many symptoms, and they said that they are concerned. They will organise CT/Colonoscopy as soon as they possibly can, and arrange a face to face appointment with my surgeon to explore possibiities.
However, they also said that the symptoms, while identical to those I had when I was diagnosed with cancer, are also possibly Lower Anterior Resection Syndrome. I did not know this even existed, nor was I warned it might be a side-effect of the surgery. It seems it is indeed a thing, albeit not a common one, impacting only a small percentage of those who have a resection. I'm looking into it, but wondered - has anybody else here heard of, or experienced, this condition?
I suppose it is a preferable alternative to cancer, yes, but if I am going to be wrestling with this on a long term basis, it is going to be a singularly unpleasant houseguest!

stoatlord. Hi Robin. There’s a little bit about it on page 6 of the booklet below. There’s also a Facebook site which you have to request to join and answer a couple of questions

Thank you!
I am not really sure what to ask at this point, but it is good to know that others might have some insight. Also, I have just caught up on your own battles the past year or so. As a long-time battler with chronic fatigue and pain, I can absolutely relate to what you must be going through with long covid, or associated conditions. I really hope you can shake it off soon!
Robin.

Having lived with the same post-viral condition since I was fifteen, I can absolutely understand what you mean! It is difficult to really express how it feels to anybody who has not had it. But I truly hope it is not the new normal for you. People can, and do, recover from post-viral conditions, I know this from my personal experience, as well as working in hospitals. I shall cross all my extremities that this is the case for you!
Robin.
