I have a tumour in my rectum that is not causing a blockage but is about 35mm big.
Has anyone else had strange gurgling and wet popping noises coming from their bottoms especially when bearing down to have a wee?
It's not painful but unsettling. I do suffer from gurgling in my stomach, bloatedness and lots of wind.
I try to eat a high fibre diet due to consumption issues many years in my past.
Thank you for reading my post. Nicola.
Hi Bluebell... so sorry to learn you are in this position, but this is undoubtedly the place to come for advice!
I do not recall having the specific problem you are talking about. However, before surgery, I did experience the most unbelievable array of noises inside me! It was an almost constant chorus or gurgling and bubbling and stomach rumbling. It was so loud, and so protracted, that my partner said it sounded like whalesong, or dolphins living inside me! Similarly, the bloating and wind were a constant annoyance. However, when I had surgery, this all stopped immediately. I am not sure if they are indicative of a larger problem, but the wind and the stomach and intestine gurgling are very common symptoms of a rectal tumour, so you can be reassured that in this respect, it is not especially strange - even if it can be annoying. Honestly, by the time my surgery came around, I was causing fits of laughter in my friends due to the noises I was making. Like many things relating to bowel cancer, it can be somewhat embarrassing, but I can fully sympathise, as it is beyond your control.
There may be others here who can give more advice, or perhaps explain exactly why this particular symptom occurs. All I can offer is sympathy, and reassurance that it does not seem to be an indicator of worsening cancer beyond that which you already have... although I can appreciate, that is not a great relief under the circumstances.
I really hope you can get this tumour thoroughly beaten soon. What treatments have you been given, or had suggested? Is surgery on the cards? It can seem overwhelming, but this particular form of cancer is very treatable, and I know that once I had my tumor removed, my health became a LOT better, very rapidly. Finger crossed, you shall find similar relief!
Robin.
Thank you for your reply Robin. Unfortunately I have liver mets. I am starting Folfox next week for 6 months to shrink the liver mets. Surgery is still on the cards but it will depend if they can sort the liver.
Hi Nicola,
I am truly sorry to learn that. I have a good friend going through exactly this treatment at the moment. Small reassurance, I know, but it does geninely seem to be working. I do hope the same is true in your case!
Robin.
