First treatment got off to a slightly bumpy start, and ended up in hospital for fluids and observation for weekend. Main problem was diarrhoea which I can cope with but can obviously become quite serious when going through treatment. Also experienced some irregular heartbeats which made me anxious but 2 separate ecgs came back clear and since home I feel like a new woman after a good nights rest. Just wondering if anyone else has experience of this? The 5fu infusion only ran half way and was stopped as i understand bacause of the diarrhoea and while meds adjusted, some of which were exacerbating it. Hoping this is just a little bmp in the road and wont stop or delay treatment. Any help or advice welcome.

Hi and hope you’re feeling a bit better now. Unfortunately chemo has a variety of side effects but hopefully tweaking the doseage will improve things for you. Ive attached a link to a page about 5FU side effects and it does seem to suggest that it can affect how your heart works so it’s reassuring that all your tests have come back ok
