Hi everyone, I had a FIT test done last week, I got the results back on Tues and phone call same day saying blood was detected, next day received a cancer leaflet and phone call from my hospital asking for me to book my bowel and a stomach camera. my FIT results said >400ug/g ... does anyone know what this amount means. ??? I'm not telling my family unless something is detected. What does the FIT look for, is it only blood? Thanks you lovely bunch xxx

What a lovely user name ! You sound a lovely mum !
I have included a leaflet at the top of the page which goes into some facts about the fit test . It does not indicate the 400 aspect but does give some other info .
Hope you find it helpful .
Take care ,

Thank you Court for your reply and the info. Can I ask, can you have bowel cancer without blood in your stool? Kind Regards Terrie
I had a wee look at the research and it said most bleed but slowly ! Some people can pass the fit test but still have a tumour as it has to be actively bleeding when they do the test for it to work ! Most Fitb tests have a wee paragraph advising not to ignore symptoms!
Hope that’s of some assistance.

Hi there , my Fit test was negative for blood but colonoscopy showed a sigmoid cancer stage 3 . My surgeon said that the tumor was smooth so unlikely to bleed
Thank you for your feedback Takayasu. Did you experience any lower right pain on and off? Xx
Not really to be honest , my main symptoms were severe constipation which happened overnight and a feeling that my digestive system had just stopped working . I went down the food intolerance route etc . Went gluten free , Lacto free and was referred to a dietician. I would have mucus sometimes when I wiped and thought it was because my gut was irritated.
when do you have your colonoscopy ?
My colonoscopy and gastroscopy is on Mon 24th May. Did your constipation come and go or was it all the time. They only picked this up since i had low haemoglobin and ferritin levels as waiting for another operation. Xx
Most of the time actually all the time ! The wait will feel so long - infact the waiting is the worst part of all of this . I was diagnosed whilst being investigated for another disease ! So feel very fortunate otherwise I’ve know idea how long it would of taken to get found otherwise . I had my colonoscopy on the 14th jan and my resection on the 12th March . I’ve just finished cycle 1 of chemo x
Hope you're coping well hun. Whats a resection xx
For me it’s been quite smooth so far . A resection is the term they use when they take out the tumor and either side in my case the sigmoid part of the colon . I’m 49 by the way my children are older though 23 and 21
