Hi been a while since I was on here, just feeling as if I need someone to talk to.... I had surgery on the 1st September to remove a tumour in my bowel, 6 weeks later was told by the consultant they had got it all, you can imagine my relief. I also have a tumour in my kidney, which they were going to look at next.... Had a scan at the beginning of November for the kidney, and they called me to tell me the colorectal cancer was back... Next an appointment with the oncologist who explained to me that it had spread and they were going to start me on immunotherapy ..... I asked the question we all want to know in these situations, and they told me I possibly had 3 years.... they are not going to touch the kidney as immunotherapy is apparently effective against renal cancer.... The oncologist told me this is just to give me a better quality of life, that it was palliative care. I do not hold anything against the consultant who told me they had got it all, after all who can tell with 100% accuracy .... trying to keep my pecker up, but it is hard some days, my wife is a rock, and I try to stay strong for her, making light of what is going on, but it is hard.... I don't know where I am going with this, just need to vent a bit I think, sorry folks...
Hi,
Sorry to hear that your cancer has returned.
I am also about to start Immunotherapy for an area of residual cancer that was left from surgery in April. This has started to grow and I completed a course of chemoradiation which did not work.
My oncologist is very positive about the Immunotherapy and has said it can give amazing results. I will be having Nivolumab which has just become available on the NHS, If it works on me he has said I will be able to have it long term.
Do you know if this is the same as you will be having?
Hi, yes that is the same as I am having... I really hope it works for you... my next treatment is tomorrow... you never know I might be 1 of the 20% it works on... fingers crossed
So sorry to hear that .
Its great to see people accessing immunotherapy. America is getting some good results and I hope you are one of them too.
It sounds as though your team is as strong as ever around you .
Hope 2921 brings better news for you .
Take care ,
Court .
