I normally put up a post each year after mum’s scans but I got sidetracked this year .

A lot of new people facing the uncertainty of a stage 4 diagnosis. A little encouragement to those starting out , learning to live life in spite of a difficult diagnosis and learning where possible how to face a chronic condition .
This was mum celebrating her tenth anniversary. Poor guy at the back carrying the load as he does on so many , many occasions. I do normally row but thought there was a good chance I would hit mum in the face .

Keep pushing forward where possible !

  • Good luck everything crossed your results are good Fingers crossedFingers crossedFingers crossed

  • Hi

18 miles is absolutely fantastic! Given the surgery you have had I would not be surprised if there was some pulling ! Do you ever get adhesions? My mum seemed to go through a period of discomfort after her surgery for quite a period of time . It came and went and we suspected adhesions. However we never knew for sure or it could have been everything settling !

I am actually really impressed with your fitness, it’s impressive stuff !

All the very best with the scans ! I think it’s only reasonable to be guarded but hopefully it will have some positive stuff for you .

    Take care ,

Thanks Court, yes perhaps I shouldn't have been quite so energetic. I just feel while I can I should be as active as I am able to, but I will cut down on the cycling and go on some smoother roads. I don't think I have had any adhesions, they have never mentioned it. I hope not anyway.

Keeping everything crossed for the results.

  • I have heard they are conducting a larger research study into the benefits of even moderate exercise before /during /after treatment ! Maybe you are just ahead of the research . I am amazed at your recovery as I know you had a tough time on chemo ! More power to your elbow I say !

Holding out for some good results for you !

    Many thanks Court,

Yes I feel better if I go out to exercise even if it is just a short walk.

  • Hi Louloubelle64 good luck with your scan results just want to mention to you and to court that my husband is part of a scheme called prehab4cancer he failed a fitness test for surgery after being in hospital foe a month, he had been quite fit before he was contact by a trainer who asked him questions then complied a fitness programme foe him; she rings him once a week. After 6 weeks he did fitness test again And passed with flying colours anethetist said he was amazed, he continues to get updated programmes as he has got fitted and call still regularly. Once he has had surgery the training will be retailorwd to suit him post op it’s a great motivator and good results for us anyway. Best wishes hope idea helps others x

    Many thanks Process,

That is interesting. I would love to be on a programme like that. I mostly just do walking to keep fit as I am not sure what I can do with my abdominal muscles at present due to the surgery and? Tumours inside my pelvis /lungs. When I cycled I was in a bit of pain afterwards so don't want to risk it again until the Ct scan results.

What surgery is your husband having? I was due for HIPEC but it didn't go ahead as I mentioned in my post previously.

I am trying to keep busy today but am a bit of a nervous wreck waiting for tomorrow's apt. Had a good walk with my sister and her new dog Charlie.

  • Hi
I am all for scan information being available online so you have time to digest it before your consultation. I found at times it was hard to hear as your managing a lot of emotions too and questions spring to mind later !
Scan results are so stressful but Hope it’s all stable for you !

You are certainly physically doing well !

that is so interesting as I think a lot of people need that bit of guidance knowing what is beneficial and what is not and are left trying to work it out themselves ! That sounds more streamlined and agree with  having a program and guidance especially for people who are motivated would be such a benefit !

I used to feel as though my poor mum got little option . As soon as she was upright we Got her moving but looking back I wonder if it really did contribute to here getting back on her feet !

Hoping tomorrow goes as smoothly as these appointments can !
