Hello
My consultant rang this afternoon to say that my scan showed that my cancer is now showing onnmy liver. She said it's still slight at this stage. She wants me to have another blood test in a couple of weeks and then see her in October. My tumour markers are still fairly low. She mentioned taking me off Exemestane and putting me 9n Tamoxifen. I have been on Tamoxifen before after my original diagnosis back in 2010 for 5 years. She was also talking about oral chemo at some point. Has anyone else had this?
I knew it was going to spread at some point but it still hits home that this is going to get me. Dont really know what I am feeling, scared perhaps, confused and angry right now. This is not how I saw my 60s panning out. No retirement with my husband, no pension even since they moved the goalposts. I hate, hate this vile condition.
Sadly, when it comes to the thyroid and thyroxine, there are a lot of things written that are just, rubbish. There's so much misinformation out there that I'm constantly calming folks down who have read all sorts of things. Or in a FB group I'm a part of, trying to correct people who really believe some of the rubbish out there. Had one person two nights ago talking about the healing powers of turmeric.....
If you're worried it could be thyroid cancer, it's still a trip to the GP I'm afraid. See if you can get them to refer you for an ultrasound of your thyroid, the raised antibodies should help persuade them. If it's cancer, there's usually a nodule that can be found and looked at via ultrasound to see if it looks suspicious or not.
TSH being up is more evidence of thyroid disease. It means you're heading into hypothyroidism, which can account for your aches and pains. And the TPA is what you said was increased, the thyroid peroxidase antibodies. TPA.
I had no symptoms, and my hormone levels were all fine. I just found a lump in my neck when I choked on some chicken. Lol. They think I might have had it though, since I was in single digits. Chernobyl.
I'm kinda in the North East. Leeds. Lol

I see. I love learning new things. Thanks. My daughter is hypo but just gets T4 TSH checked.
My goodness, what a way to find out, You managing it?
You said I could be feeling bone achy because of thyroid - it has just kicked in and increasing since Monday and the Denosumab injection. I did a search to see if anyone else had or was experiencing this but didn’t find a lot
Funny you should mention Chernobyl. That is exactly what I said to my husband. I would like to see the stats of cancers across uk, types and frequency.
Stockton on Tees now. Travelled a bit. Middlesbrough, Australia, Reading, Minehead, East Cleveland then Stockton.

If you're just hypothyroid, then that's all that needs checked. And once they have her on the right dose of thyroxine, those checks will become less frequent.
As it's in my bones then I'm classed as incurable, as anyone is once cancer hits the bones. So I've got 3 mets left, 2 in my spine and 1 in my rib. I'm classed as disabled now, and as well as another type of cancer, I've got a whole host of other issues. If you're ever bored, have a read of my profile. So I'm getting by, but it isn't always great.
There are plenty of stats on cancer research regarding types of cancer and how many cases there are. However there's no way to distinguish what caused what cancer. Across the world, it's mostly thyroid cancer numbers that have increased, because chernobyl sent up radioactive iodine in the mushroom cloud. It's only when you get into Ukraine that other cancers have increased.

Good morning Lass,
Well I have just read your profile. (There is something that I am doing now that I did not pre-diagnosis of seconondary cancer.....that is use words that would have stayed in my head but now I speak out. “Not lady-like”, my mum says). I just found myself saying, f**k, s**t, while reading your amazingly detailed profile. The medical lot should be writing and researching you. There should be a medical department specialised in looking at the whole person - How are your body systems working together? Because that is what they do. They rely on each other. One system does not work in isolation to the other. Liver affects more than just liver function.
I can’t imagine how you must feel because I can imagine 5 x, 10 x and possibly 20 x worse than I am but you, and what you have been though and are still going through, no.
You are amazing. Your mind and body a miracle for dealing with all it has dealt with.
Shame we don’t have a ‘House’ character in a hospital in the UK. ‘House’ would love to put his top, brilliant doctor ‘students’ on you. (‘House’ was a US show about a super brainy, all body diagnostic specialist, with a ‘few’ problems of his own).
I was told I had a fatty liver years ago. No known cause for it in me. I haven’t heard back from oncologist as to whether the ultrasound man is able to biopsy the bits in liver. I want to know exactly what we dealing with in order to get correct treatment but the procedure concerns me.
After my last post yesterday. Because of the pain and thought no way I will sleep tonight, I took some CBD oil, two paracetamols and laid on my newish body mat. It vibrates. About 30 mins later, I turned it off and fell asleep listening to a guided meditation from Insight Timer app. Asleep within 15 mins cos that was as long as it was for.
Will be thinking of you Lass,

I hope it does. By the way I in Stockton too. Just 18 months.
How are you today?
