Hello,  I am Robin in Bristol and I have arrived with bladder cancer via radiotherapy to kill prostate cancer, it worked, the cancer turned up in kidney tube (ureta?) so kidney removed, and since then 3 monthly flexible cystoscopy exams and this week rigid cystoscopy which revealed VERY HIGH RISK . NMIBC.

Doesn't sound good does it?

  • Hello  and welcome to this friendly group. Sorry to hear what you have been through already, but be aware BC can be treated successfully one way or another. Once they have a full diagnosis they will come up with a treatment plan. We have members here with many different experiences and always someone with an answer once you know your next step. Feel free to ask anything. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Robin78, Welcome to the group. I hope you will find it helpful and supportive. Best wishes Jane

  • Thanks Rily this is reassuring - I have aggressive BC in urethra which has spread locally and am due for op at Southmead. Just waiting for the decision on whether chemo or op first. Quite worrying as it wasn't picked up in first ultrasound so there has been delay. One consultant is positive about the options another basically said the same thing but more negative... I guess I just have to keep hoping.  Good luck to Robin and everyone else on this path.

  • Good luck Jan. Waiting is such a torment

  • Hi Jan29,A couple of us on here had our surgery at Southmead and have done well.Best wishes Jane

  • Yes I know - if you are also going to Southmead I am told it is the local centre of excellence so let's hold on to that!

  • Absolutely - it is important to be positive I think.  Hope all is well with you now.

  • Non muscle invasive bladder cancer is the best type you can have. It is localised and definitely treatable. Once you have a treatment plan you will probably feel a whole load better.

Some of us are just more cancer prone. Aren't we the lucky ones as technology leaps along providing effective treatments.

Good luck with it and regards

  • Mine has spread to "local" areas so they are removing surrounding organs but I am told it is still treatable though not curable. I agree some of us are cancer prone and we are lucky if we have ones that are treatable.
