Hi I’ve just been told the results today my bladder cancer that’s in my diverticulum that has spread to my lymph nodes nodes is squamous cell carcinoma I was told there is no treatment for this and it’s highly invasive I’m a very fit and healthy woman 59 I’ve been nursing 41 yrs just haven’t been working recently due to having my TURBIT done I’ve been so hopeful that I can do something to fight this but with the urologist saying today there’s nothing that can be done that this cancer will not respond to any treatment I’m in bits he said I will get an appointment soon for another CT scan just to check the invasiveness as slim chance they can try radical surgery to remove my bladder surrounding organs and lymph nodes but he said it is not a good outlook as it may have already spread more in my body than they know I asked if I can try Chemo radiotherapy any trials but I’ve been told there nothing that will treat this just feeling very very overwhelmed my uncle died very quickly following this diagnosis I hoped this wasn’t going to be the same for me just nothing can prepare for hearing this but know I just need to keep taking it one day at a time
Hello FiM, What a terrible shock you have had with this news, of course you feel all over the place. My heart goes out to you . One day at a time friend, you still have the hope of surgery. Hold on tight to that . I hope the tests are soon and you are not kept waiting. sending you my love and best wishes.
Much love Angela x
Hi FiM, sorry you are going through this. I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in my bladder last December. At first they thought it had spread but after further scans it hadn't so I was offered a radical cystectomy which I had in April this year. So don't lose hope. I was ready for giving up but all the lovely people on here helped me so much. I am still scared, in a couple of months I have to go for a full body scan which is terrifying. I hope all news is good news for you from now on. Best wishes.
Love Helen
So sorry I’m hoping and praying that some hope emerges soon. And you’re right there is no preparation for news like this. If you can stay hopeful I repeat what if it turns out better than you fear a lot. To remind myself that where my mind goes to is not necessarily what will happen. I send you loving thoughts xx
I'm so sorry to read this, I got diagnosed in January with squamous cell carcinoma in my uretha. They told me the only treat was a radical cystoprostatectomy. I had this done in March they took my bladder prostate and uretha away and 15 lymph nodes. I got my results back and they got it all out. Please get your CT scan done and see what they say. I have a urostomy now. There's more in my profile. Thinking of you

Thank you so much for your reply Neil I’m sorry you had to go through all of that but does give me hope that if my CT doesn’t show more spread that I can try to get it all removed as well really so good to hear that all is gone now from you thank you again for sharing this with me I do hope I get this next CT soon and the results just all been hard the waiting and the not knowing
Hi FiM
I was sorry to read your post and understand how scary things will be right now for you. I hope your scan shows no further spread and you can have surgery.
You mentioned the potential to remove your bladder and “surrounding organs” so I wanted to let you know that I’ve had a similar surgery, and if I can give you some hope to hold on to, my surgery was nearly 6 and a half years ago, though I didn’t have primary bladder cancer.
My story is in my profile if you click on my name, so I won’t repeat here what was removed in my surgery, but it was a lot! However, all the cancer was removed successfully. Just to say our bodies can be amazing in how they adapt, even after huge surgery. I hope it will be possible for you too to come through this.
Sarah xx
