Here I am to say hi. I have been diagnosed with hi grade tumor and will begin BCG treatments. I may enter a trial of Anktiva plus BCG in BCG naive patients. That combo usually reserved for those who have failed BCG therapy only. I just wonder if anyone has experience with the combination. In any case, pretty nervous about the whole thing. Any reassurance on BCG therapy would be much appreciated. Thank You
Good Morning MrPib and welcome to this friendly and supportive group. Not had BCG myself but many here have and I am sure will be along to share experiences. Regarding anktiva, I've not come across it here in the group and a search brings nothing up, so it sounds like a new treatment alongside BCG. Keep us posted on how it goes. Best wishes.
Hi MrPib . It is advised not to do too much for a couple of weeks following a TURBT as there is the danger of aggravating the wound. Slow and steady is the way, but great to hear you like to exercise. Best wishes.
Same in the US. My urologist is one of many throughout the US doing a study of Anktiva in addition to BCG in patients who have never been treated.
Bit different in UK , it is only approved for people who have failed bcg therapy. Even then it is given with BCG ! Your FDA has recently reprimanded the manufacturer for overplaying it's effectiveness and there a number of class actions being raised by investors over this. Interesting to contrast the two counties approach, time will tell.
Best regards
