Hi there,
Not really sure why I'm here but struggling a bit.
I started having horrendous kidney pain at the end of Nov. Eventually admitted to hospital ?kidney stones as Urologist on call didn't think I should be. Had CT scan and xray, found nothing so was discharged even though I was still in awful pain. Back and forth to Dr's given various pain meds with no clear path. Just before Christmas had blood in my urine. Dr still ?kidney stones. Spoke to urologist who referred for cystoscopy as ct was clear. Had that in January where they found 2 papillary tumours and a red patch. 4 weeks later for biopsy and tumours had disappeared but they took samples of red area so just waiting on biopsy results. At the biopsy consultant said if they were clear then that would be that. When I mentioned kidney pain he said it wasn't related. When I queried what would happen next as this all started from kidney pain he suggested that I would have to have a CT scan with contrast but needed to wait until results came back.
I just feel that 3 months down the line being in awful pain, not at work and this has been a side quest. If its not bladder cancer then I'm back at the start and what, have to wait another 6-8 weeks for them to investigate the kidneys and I'm petrified that its kidney cancer and they have been looking in the wrong place. This week they put me on high dose antibiotics as more visible blood in pee, pain has increased and i feel awful. I know everyone goes through the waiting but I'm a catastrophiser and feel at the end of my tether really. Sorry for the long drivel just needed to get it out.
Thank you if you have managed to read all that x
Dear Doogie, I wish I could help but have not had kidney pain. However I think that they need to keep looking for why you are having it. You don't need to apologise at all. Hopefully someone here will have something practical to say soon.
Are you drinking enough liquids? That's what they seem to say when there is blood in urine and pain as well as inflammation.
All the best,
