Hello, bit of background about my journey so far, I am post menopausal in my late 50’s and had been experiencing some post menopausal bleeding, on investigation I was found to have a fibroid but also a tumour in my bladder.  This was removed via a TURBT a month ago, my recovery was easy, the worst part was the pain and discomfort from the catheter.  Today I had my follow up and have been told I have low grade cancer in the bladder lining only.  I am going to have 6 sessions of something into my bladder (once a week over 6 weeks) to help prevent it coming back.  I can’t recall was the official treatment was called but the consultant kept referring to it as weed killer!

I suffer from anxiety but strangely I’m not too anxious about the outcome, I already knew is was definitely cancer because my gp put it on my fit note before I had the follow up.  I think I did most of my worrying before the operation.  I am still having a lot of anxiety about my husbands diagnosis, he has cancer on his eye and around the tear duct, it’s going to be treated in London which is trek on public transport for us and very expensive and stressful.  He also has a couple of medical issues which are complicating his treatment - we just want it to be done.  I’m far more worried about hubby than myself.   Thank you for reading this far xx

  • Hi Pickled 247

    I had 6 weeks of chemo (Mitomycin) 3rd June 2024 - 8th July 2024

Once a week into the bladder

I didn't have any side effects to speak of, a bit tired after and the next day

I am happy to say I have been checked every 3 months since and still cancer free

Good luck and please feel free to ask anything, this is a very supportive group and a safe space

    Much love Tina x
