Hi I had my results last week after 2nd re section. 2 samples were taken and came back clear. I had grade 2 PT1 bladder cancer. I am now starting my 3 year course of bcg 24 March. I will be getting the first 3 of 6 installations consecutively then a 2 week break as I have a 5 day holiday planned and another falls on a bank holiday. Does anybody know if it's OK to have this 2 week break together. My cancer nurse says the 6 installations can be done over a period of 10 weeks . Anyone know if it's the case. Thankyou
Hi Trish18 and a warm welcome to the group. Good to know your recent test was clear. Not had BCG myself but we have seen it many times on here where people have taken breaks without affecting the overall results. I an sure others with personal experience will be along. Best wishes.
Hi Trisha,
Welcome to this friendly forum.
As Rily mentioned you often hear about people missing an instillation, myself included.
My oncology nurses weren't to bothered about me missing a week, I had to have a course of antibiotics, even though the side effects are similar to an UTI, but they wouldn't insert the BCG at the time.
I don't recall reading someone missing two consecutive weeks, but sure they have before. Sounds like your nurse is okay with it, and I'm sure they would advise otherwise.
Best of luck with your BCG course and have a fantastic holiday.
Take care.
Trevor
