Hi everyone, just wanted to ask about Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer Stage 3, my dad was diagnosed at Christmas and has just completed 6 rounds of Radiotherapy. Back before his weekly treatment we were told without the treatment the cancer would start spreading at around 6 months. He is too sick for anything other than the weekly blasts due to other issues, he is 85. I've since had a conversation and the consultant has said it hasn't spread and he could be good for 2 to 3 years? I'm so confused. Of course if he does have longer with us that's fantastic but how can they tell it hasn't spread without a scan? Can they tell from his bloods?
Hi Sharon56 and welcome to this friendly and supportive group. There are usually some scans to check nothing is going on elsewhere. Following my radiotherapy, I had CT, MRI and rigid cystoscopy to check on things. Does your dad have a CNS to call to get some clarification? Best wishes.
