Hi. I suppose that I can be regarded as a success story as I have been dealing with this illness for some 20 years. I have been diagnosed with cancer now with the cancer in tge muscle but due to my age I have decided to go down the chemo/radiotherapy route. I had my first chemo session a week ago but when I arrived today I was told that my blood platelets were too low and so it has been rescheduled for 2 weeks time. Will this delay affect my chance of recovery given the delay. Thank you.
Hi BeBe100 and welcome to the group although sorry to hear how long you have been dealing with this. Chemo delays owing to low blood counts are quite common. I had a couple of delays stretching my 6 weeks to 8. I was told it should not make a great deal of difference in the long run. In extreme cases they can medicate but prefer for things to recover naturally. The chemo halted my growth and then I went on to chemoradiation. Happy to answer any questions re radiotherapy if I can. Best wishes
