Hi I am new to the group. Apart from my dad, who also had Bladder Cancer, I do not know anyone with this condition. I have been led to believe it is mostly men who have this and have only ever seen men when I have gone for treatment so feel very alone on my journey

  • Welcome to the group. Plenty of women here with BC, but I know what you mean - I'm often the only female patient in the waiting room at clinic. Do you have stage & grade yet, and treatment plan?

  • Hi I was diagnosed last year. I can’t remember, but it wasn’t high grade or fast growing, I had a TURBT and 1 chemo before I left the hospital. At my 3 month check I had more so they raised my level, another TURBT and then 6 chemos. I was given the all clear in December, but the nearer it gets to my 6 month check up the more I am worried. Did I eat properly etc etc My husband died at the start of Covid, he had a Glioblastoma, so it was a very lonely time, it’s been a hard 5 years and I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself to be honest. How do you shake that ?

  • Hi  and a welcome from me. Sorry to hear about your husband, it must have been a really hard time for you. We all get anxious as our check ups approach, but the positive thing is they check us regularly so anything new can be dealt with early. It is hard to get yourself out of the doldrums, the stress does have an affect on our feelings. This is where this place helps by talking to others who understand. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi ANN3 21,

female here. Sorry to hear of the upset you've had in recent years. Its difficult to come to terms with a cancer diagnosis. It hit me like a train. I was diagnosed 2 years ago today. Mine is high grade non muscle invasive but you only have to talk or read on here to see just how treatable this is. There's lots of ladies on here, so plenty of people to chat to.

    Best wishes

    Its good to talk

  • Hi Dem54 Thank you so much for your welcome. I’m still a bit disbelieving because I don’t look like ‘I’ve got cancer’, I feel a bit of a fraud. I’m delighted to be part of the group and have support when I need it Anne x
