Hi  and welcome to the group. Early days for you and you need to see what your consultants come up with as a treatment plan. Once you have a plan you then have something positive to focus on. Always difficult to talk to youngsters, but no need to go in to details and take things a step at a time. Best wishes.

Dear Brummielass, having worked in secondary special needs for years, I'd say if your daughter is averagely or very bright, perhaps avoid baby talk words for whatever you are describing. Better to use as much plain and medical language as necessary and stop with any explanation as soon as you see her switch off. She'll likely ask you later if she wants more.
