Hi
I was diagnosed with small cell muscle invasive bladder cancer last Friday.
everything is moving so fast(which I’m glad about) which has sent me into a head spin.
I have an appointment with the surgeon on Monday with the surgeon and oncology on Wednesday.
my main concern is telling my 11 year old daughter, any advice on how I can tell her truthfully but not so she worries mommy will not be here
thanks
Hi Brummielass and welcome to the group. Early days for you and you need to see what your consultants come up with as a treatment plan. Once you have a plan you then have something positive to focus on. Always difficult to talk to youngsters, but no need to go in to details and take things a step at a time. Best wishes.
I'm sure Macmillan has some resources about this, but can't immediately see where. Here is another option:

Best wishes.
Dear Brummielass, having worked in secondary special needs for years, I'd say if your daughter is averagely or very bright, perhaps avoid baby talk words for whatever you are describing. Better to use as much plain and medical language as necessary and stop with any explanation as soon as you see her switch off. She'll likely ask you later if she wants more.
best wishes,
Denby
