Hi all I am new on here I was diagnosed with stage 3 bladder cancer in Sept 2020 had a turbo then had a recurrence in July 2021 had a second turbo then started bcg treatment in Sept 2021 I have had some bad times with the treatment but have stuck with it my question is I had not. 16 17 18 in January and wasn't to bad but I have had blood in my urine 3 weeks after the last treatment & six weeks after my last treatment I w red nt to a& e the first time and they said it was down to BCG it happend at six weeks and I spoke to mcmillan nurse who said it canbe BCG has anyone on  hear experienced this ?

  • Hi  and welcome to the group. Do you mean grade 3 rather than stage 3 ? we know BCG can cause various side effects including bleeding. BCG can inflame the bladder lining . It is important to keep drinking plenty of water to keep things flushed out and contact the medics again if it does not stop or get worse. I am sure someone with personal experience will be along to share their experience. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi twitters, welcome to the group.

Your journey has given me a small thread of confidence. I was diagnosed in 2021, had turbt, regular checkups. Clear until last week. 3 areas of minor recurrence which were dealt with by cautorising during cystoscopy. Ive been chasing for info on why ive not had bcg. But now i can see from your comments, they may wait and see at what rate it re occurs. Hope your symptoms get sorted.

    Many thanks Deb.

    • Hi rily thanks for the reply & yes I do mean grade 3 Thumbsup
  • Hi DME54 sorry to see you had a recurrence hope all stays clear for you and if not they start you on bcg treatment I hve spoken to people who went straight on it and people who like me and you were put on it later...

  • Hi Twitters,Welcome to the group.I hope you find it helpful.Best wishes Jane

  • When are you due for next cystoscopy? I would want to expedite that, just to be sure no further recurrence, that might mean rethinking the treatment plan. Best wishes.

  • Good afternoon Twitters. I’ve followed a similar course of treatment except that after 15 BCG up to August last year I was told no more BCG for 12 months. A flexi cystoscopy at the end of January this year has identified a small recurrence. I’m presently waiting for a date for diathermy to treat the recurrence but it seems to be taking some time to arrange. I haven’t had the reaction that you have described, best wishes, John.
