Good morning All, I am new here and have joined in support of my father of who we have just found out has bladder cancer. He was due a CT scan and biopsy next week to determine more, however, has yesterday tested positive for covid. He had been given an op date of 21st March, but we have now been told there will be a delay of 7 weeks after a negative test. This is concerning for us as is obviously a huge delay. My Dad is 85. Has anyone had a similar experience? Was it bought forward? Have a good day all. You are all inspiring. x

  • Hello  and welcome to this friendly and supportive group, but sorry to hear your father has been diagnosed with bladder cancer although this won't be confirmed until biopsy results. Firstly, be aware that bc can be treated successfully.  These delays are always frustrating but several weeks should not make a great difference in the great scheme of things. I waited nearly 2 months for my TURBT (transurethral resection of bladder tumour) and that was prior to Covid. Lots of varying experiences here so feel free to ask anything at all. I hope all goes well. Best wishes

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Rily, thanks so much for your reassuring reply. We are still coming to terms with the shock of it so any positive feedback we are grateful for. Thank you x

  • Hi again  . The procedure had will probably be having is usually done in day surgery or maybe an overnight. The offending cells will be scraped away and samples sent for analysis. Then a further few weeks waiting for results. The waiting is something people always find hard. In the meantime it is important for your father to keep drinking lots of water to keep any blood and debris flushed out. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
