Good morning all,

I’ve just joined the  group on the recommendation of my partner who ironically has started working for Macmillan four weeks ago (you couldn’t make it up!) !

I had a cystoscopy yesterday following a CT scan performed during a hospital stay for acute pancreatitis that I have suffered for the last four years. They have detected a tumour in my bladder and think it is cancer although obviously not yet confirmed. I am being booked in for TURBT procedure but they could not give me a date other than hopefully before Christmas. Fortunately I have speeded the process up through private medical insurance provided by my employer and have a consultation booked for the 1st of November.
Not really sure what I’m looking fir within this group other than information from your personal experiences.
I feel quite numb and confused following yesterday’s appointment and have all kinds of thoughts going on both positive and the obvious negative ones.
Hope you are all doing well and look forward to being part of the group’s community.

  • Hi and Good Morning to you. Welcome to the group, although we know you would rather not be here. You will get lots of support and help here as you go forward. Lots of experience here as well as others in early stages like yourself. Firstly, be aware that BC can be treated successfully one way or another. It's not unusual to have a bit of a wait for a TURBT, but that doesn't help with the waiting anxiety. Early days for you and we know how your head will be in a whirl at the moment. Once you have your op, which is fairly straightforward in the great scheme of things, you will get a better picture of what you are dealing with and have something positive to focus on. Feel free to ask any questions. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
