Can’t heal

Hi all,

Does anybody besides me struggle with recovery from mitomycin?

I was treated two years ago with mitomycin in my bladder after they removed a tumor that had not penetrated the muscle. So far no more tumors, so I feel very lucky in that regard. However I continue to have pain and a wound  inside the bladder that will not heal. My doctor has no advice for me on how to help it heal other than take painkillers.

I’m just giving up coffee for the second time because the pain has gotten worse again… I have the sense diet might have an impact. I just wondered if anybody else had a similar difficulty and could offer any advice

  • Hi and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear your bladder is still a bit fragile. Not had quite the same myself, and can only offer the usual advice of plenty of water. I have always been advised by nurses over the years to drink cranberry juice. Hopefully someone will be along with something to offer. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Bekka,I haven’t had Mitomycin but I used to have a very painful bladder disease before cancer. You could try cutting out anything too acidic or spicy.I found onions and tomatoes caused the most pain and anything citrus.Pear juice was soothing.Best wishes Jane

Yes, this is the unfortunate conclusion I've come to...I love strawberries and tomatoes, but oh well.  Luckily we're moving into apple and pear season, and those seem less bothersome.  Thank you, Jane!

  • I think if you have noticed coffee makes the pain worse it’s worth trying to eliminate a few things to see if that helps.I know changing my diet helped when I had bladder ulcers.Love Jane
