Hey everyone, I’m new here but just looking to see if anyone is in the same situation as me. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2017, age 32, I had full bladder/hysterectomy and partial cervix removal and 3 months of chemo and was told I had the all clear at the start of 2018. Then in oct 2020 one of my regular check up scans found a nodule in each lung. Too small to be worried about but kept an eye on anyway. Fast forward to Jan 2022 and I was told they ar win fact cancer and after a pet scan another nodule in my left lung was found. They think it had already spread from the bladder before the removal and it’s just been too microscopic to detect. Also growing a a very slow pace. I was told that they will just keep coming now, they just aren’t sure how quickly and where. I’ve done one session of radiotherapy on my left lung and about to get my right one done in the next couple of weeks but the third small one on my left lung has grown quicker than the other 2 in the past 6/7 months and I’m now waiting on another pet scan result to see if there’s anymore. I deal with it all ok most days, but all the waiting on scan results and treatment dates is all starting to make me anxious though. I do talk about it, Just what can anyone say, I’m not even sure what to say. It’s such a worrying time right now and one of my friends suggested maybe seeing if anyone was in the same or similar situation as me, that I can maybe talk to who knows a little bit about what I’m going through. So here I am.
I hope everyone’s doing ok today ️
Thank you in advance for any comments or info.
Hi Flamingo37 and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about your lung nodules. it must be a worry, especially after being clear. I hope the radiotherapy can do the trick. I've not experienced the same, but there is always someone here for support and hopefully someone with experience may have some advice. Best wishes.
Hi Flamingo37,Welcome to this friendly group.I’m so sorry to hear you have lung nodules after all you have been through already. Were they found after a CT or MRI scan ? It’s almost 3 years since my cystectomy. The first scans following were clear but the last two picked up small lung nodules. The hospital didn’t seem bothered about them but my follow up care hasn’t been good.I have left a message today to ask what is happening regarding this. What a worry for you,I hope you have supportive family and friends ? Best wishes for your radiotherapy.Love Jane x
Hi there, the first 2 nodules were found from my mri checkups and the third was picked up on a pet scan. When they first found them they had said it was nothing to worry about but I had to go back to 3 or 4 monthly scans and then they realised they were still growing. I’m 5 years since my removal but the nodules were first found almost 2 years ago.
Is there anyway you can contact your oncology doctor and ask for more frequent follow ups/ scans? Or are you still getting checked regularly? The nodules may be nothing to worry about, as I was told these appear all the time in people and are only found during scans and because we get regular scans for checkups, we’re more likely to see them, but then they’ll disappear again. You should maybe try contact your oncologist and tell them how you feel.
I do hope you get someplace if you contact them!
I have amazing support around me and I hope you do aswell!
Thank you for your reply and kind wishes
Kim xx
Thanks Kim,I’m waiting for a urology appointment as they had forgotten about me ! It will probably be a phone call rather than face to face but I will ask about the nodules/other scans.I’m glad you have good support.I have my partner John and my sister Sarah. It has been tough since my mum died in January as I’m sorting out all her affairs and will have to move house.I’ve been here 24 years so it will be hard to leave.I’m glad I chased urology up now, hopefully I should hear soon.Best wishes Jane xx
Aww Jane, so sorry you are having to go through all of this. I have everything crossed for you and I hope that it’s a face to face app you get and they keep giving you regular check ups & scans.
All the best xx
Thanks.I’ll be thinking of you and I hope that your next radiotherapy treatment reduces the nodules.Love and best wishes Jane xx
Hi
Prior to my surgery 5 years ago, my initial scan discovered a nodule on my right lung. My Surgeon stated that I'd probably had since a child. Since it was discovered it's not grown. The thing is, like kidney and liver cysts, these things occur naturally and are often benign and nothing to do with cancer.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
