Hi everybody.
I have a Stage 3 Intramuscular Bladder Cancer. Have had two operations to remove the tumour, and am now waiting for the appointment with the Oncologists to commence Radio/Chemo Therapy. I have been advised that the Chemo will be Gemcitabine. Don't know how long the treatment will take, obviously a number of weeks. As with other people who have this condition, I have had no pain or discomfort. My symptoms came to light when I had an Acute Haematuria and had to go to A&E. Not looking forward to the treatment but at least the latest CT scan showed no spread into adjoining areas. Wishing well to everybody.
Hi YesMonkey and welcome to the group, although sorry you find yourself here. You will get plenty of support and help here going forward. Your story will be familiar to many of us. I had this treatment for muscle invasive. The chemo is usually over a six week period. Long day one week followed by short session the following week. I didn't have any problems with the chemo (Gem/Cis) but we know some people have reactions to it. You cannot predict how people cope with it. Get a good quality mouthwash and rinse regularly to help prevent mouth sores. I had 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy. Again, no real problems with it. My treatment was 9 years ago and so far still good. Feel free to ask any questions. Best wishes.
