Flaky website!

Is anybody else finding the website to be unreliable?

I often find that clicking on a REPLY button does nothing, then perhaps I get an icon appear that represents my account name, but no actual box to put a message in. After further clicks on the REPLY button, I eventually get a dialogue box to type my message in.

Then even more frustrating still, having composed my message, which could comprise several paragraphs, when finished inputting I click the final REPLY button, for my message to completely disappear, instead of being added to the posted list!

  • Hi KB. There have been a lot of technical updates recently, but still not perfect. The glitches happen now and again. Sometimes it helps to refresh the page if things are not working. If your problems continue, shout out and I will send a message to the mods to see if they can help out. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Went back into the thread in which I had composed a message yesterday, which disappeared when I hit the Reply button. Much to my surprise the message was now showing again in the dialogue box. So hit Reply again and bingo message finally posted!

  • Hi Rily, I have got a message from Macmillan's Online Community team, reproduced below, which explains what I have experienced. Original post reappeared and posted successfully now, Happy Days!
    Hi KidneyBeen,
It’s Megan here from Macmillan’s Online Community team. I hope as a member of the site you’re finding it to be a comforting source of support. We see everyday how helpful it can be to speak to others with a similar cancer experience and access peer support when you need it.
The reason for getting in touch today was because I saw your post in the Bladder cancer forum and wanted to offer some support. I’d firstly like to say that you’ve experienced some issues with the site, as Rily who’s one of our Community champions had mentioned, we’ve had some updates to the site this year and there are a few things we are looking to fix.
When the reply box disappears, it could be because of a drop in internet connection and may have temporarily logged you out of the site. I’m not sure if this is what happened to you but we usually find the reply box re-appears for members once you refresh the browser a couple of times.
If you’ve written a message in the reply box and you happen to get logged out or lose internet connection temporarily, it should save your message in this reply box. When you are logged back in and you want to find the message you had written again, you need to click on the same reply button as you did before.
The reason I’m just explaining this as there’s a reply button under every post in a discussion thread. Your reply will only be saved in the reply box under the exact post you are replying to.
I hope the above makes sense and I’d like to reassure you that all feedback about the site is greatly appreciated. It helps drive future improvements and developments for the Community as we want to make the site the best it can be for our members.
If you have any questions or need any further support using the Community, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch. We’re here to help and I hope the Community shows you that you’re not alone with what you’re going through.
    Best wishes, Megan
