New here and with Bladder Cancer

Hi All

Just been through a strange couple of weeks. Up until then I thought that I had a bladder stone which was going to be removed. Had this before so was relaxed about it all (although not looking forward to it particularly). Turns out that it was a tumour and been told it was cancerous. Recovery after the operation was going well until started having trouble urinating and ended up at A&E. Couldn't get catheter in and urology consultant eventually sorted me out hours later. Don't want to go through that again in a hurry! Had to stay in for a couple of nights and had CT and MRI scans. They have sent me home with a catheter in so currently grappling with the practicalities of that.

The consultant now wants me to have a special type of CT Scan to look at lungs, kidneys etc (I must start asking more questions because I don't know what this is called. Hope they are being thorough and things aren't getting more complicated. He wants to get me this scan next week if he can and then discuss these results together with the results of the tumour biopsy at one of the regular clinics.

Strange times and it's the not knowing at the moment. Glad to be able to talk to others. Thanks already to Rily and Denby who responded to a post I made about my worries over blood clots.

  • Hi Polar.Welcome from me too.I’m sorry to hear you ended up in A & E,it’s horrible not being able to urinate. It’s usual to have a scan when you are first diagnosed.I hope it goes well and that you don’t have to wait too long for your results.Best wishes Jane

  • Hi again . Sorry to hear you have had to have a catheter after being pee restricted. It does happen to people now and then. Try not to read anything too sinister in the CT scan. It is usually normal practice just to check there is nothing else going on anywhere else. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
