Newly diagnosed. Having a TUR of tumor by cystoscopy in a week. That should tell stage and type.

Scared to death. Preparing a will and such. Trying to be positive too if that makes any sense.

  • Hi Jim and welcome to the group. While all of us would do well to 'be prepared,' and waiting for results is always hard, there is a wide variety of useful treatments around so do indeed try not to despair just yet. If there is any concern at all about spread you will be sent for CT scan to check.

    Best wishes ,

  • Hello  and welcome to the group. We know how you must be feeling at the moment. Scary times, but be assured, bladder cancer can be treated successfully in many cases. The TURBT procedure is fairly straightforward as far as operations go. You may be out same day, but be prepared for an overnight stay. The surgeon may give you an idea how it went, but there will be an anxious couple of weeks wait for results which dictate the next step. Lot of experience here to answer any questions. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Good morning Jim_B and welcome. I had a TURBT last week, slept through the whole event and back home in time for tea. This was my third . We naturally get anxious with procedures like this and they are a bit uncomfortable but in a few days time you’ll feel much better. Best wishes , John.

  • Hi. Preparing a will is always a sensible thing to do & being scared is absolutely normal. Once you get the results & have a treatment plan, you will probably feel a lot better.

After TURBT, expect painful & frequent urination for a few days - drink plenty to flush through. Best wishes.

Thank you, those things are both good to know. Hopefully them can give some medication to help.
