Hi, I have been treated repeatedly for UTI's but I have constant blood in my urine. Sometimes it is microscopic, other times obvious. No amount of antibiotics clears it up. Has anyone else had this prior to diagnosis as I am concerned if it is cancer I have had it for sometime. Thanks for looking.

  • Hi  and welcome to the group. We know how anxious you must be feeling not knowing and waiting for a diagnosis. Unfortunately it is fairly common for ladies especially to be repeatedly treated for UTIs. The positive is that it seems you have now been referred to urology and waiting for a cystoscopy which is the best tool to find out what is going on in your bladder. A simple and usually painless procedure and you will be able to see for yourself on screen what is going on. Be aware that if it does turn out to be bc, then bc can be treated successfully and there are many here to tell the tale. Please feel free to ask any questions or voice your concerns. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Just to add to all rily's reassuring reply, my husband had had his bc a long time [years] due to let's just say bad practice by our previous hospital, and it has still been treated very successfully.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to reply. I think waiting for results is one of the worst parts of this journey. I am quite a strong person and know I will deal with a bc diagnosis well. It is good to know bc has a good outcome and being on here has already made me feel reassured so thank you again. Very best wishes to you.

  • Hi Florence53,Welcome to the group. It is good that you are having a cystoscopy as blood in the urine should be investigated. It may be due to infection, inflammation, bladder stones or cancer.A cystoscopy is a quick and useful procedure.Do you have a date for it yet ? Best wishes Jane

  • Hi Florence I had the same and due to age etc thought It was part of the menopause so let it go for a good while. I am been treated successfully. Best wishes to you .
