Hello. My husband has T3. Bladder cancer, they are going to operate with removal of bladder, prostate, part of bowel & lymph nodes. He has been offered 2ctypes of surgery. The bag outside or to make another bladder inside but at times he will have to self catheterise.  I was hoping 2 men out there would speak to him about their experience, so then he can make a knowledgeable choice. This has all been rather sudden, so obviously we are all in shock. We need some advice quite quickly. My husband is aged 63 yrs . And before this no health problems at all. Thanks in advance

  • Hi KimDav, welcome to this very helpful and friendly group. Do I gather from the list they are planning to remove that the cancer has spread outside the bladder? There are certainly men on here who should be able to help, but my husband was offered Mitomycin as an alternative to surgery as his was confined to the bladder. This has worked for him so I can't offer any experience on the different kinds of diversion. But I am sure you will get answers soon. It's been covered in other recent threads.

    kind regards,
