Im In
so I’ve got around 9 months to get ready.. something to focus on…excited
Nigel
Morning Leo, I have ran a few ( plodded) marathons in my time. I love it. For the past ten years I have either been training to become a taxi driver or sitting in the cab. I’ve put on 4 stone in weight but more importantly my mental strength has completely gone, I seem to have zero will power and have taken up a “can’t be arsed” attitude…but as from today that all changes. I’m starting some therapy to get my will power back up, the Half marathon gives me a target. You guys give me inspiration and encouragement.. (and I thank you all for that)
plus it will (for a time) put the C out of my mind. In terms of work being forced to take time off for treatment is a blessing in a way. I’m cutting work from 70 hours a week ( 10 / 7 days) to 50 hours max. But I will take 2 days off every week and maybe more when I’m in treatment .
im so determined to do this, for me for my wife and for you guys…
so a “cheers to you all” for a new start.
love to all Nigel.
I used to love running but in the 1980’s I had some neurological problems and could hardly walk.I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis but more recent neurologists disagree with that.I can walk again now though.Whatever I had was triggered by vaccinations needed for work.Last time I tried to run I fell over but that was some years ago.I was useless at sport at school but think I would have been ok at athletics but only the sporty girls were allowed on the track.I thought that was very unfair at the time.Jane x
I was ok at most sports but not great at anything until I took part in the school cross country race… I won my race by some way. But better than that, I felt like I was in my own little world when I was running…I’m looking forward to getting back to that.
Love to all Nigel
Hi Nigel,No I’m sure they wouldn’t,it’s not right to deny a person access to an athletics track just because they are no good at sports like hockey or netball. My dad was the school high jump champion and my sister was fairly sporty in her youth.Watching the wheelchair tennis final at Wimbledon.Good luck with your training .Jane x
Hi Angela, thank you, I know that if I can get the mind right then everything else will follow..
as my treatment starts on the 23rd I think it’s wise to start walking regularly and then build up the running. I’ve no idea what/if I get any side effects. I will take it as it comes, but I will get there.
love to all xx
