That is a lovely photograph.The hats then were so big with fancy hat pins.I’m addicted to genealogy too and am currently researching my partner’s mum’s tree.

There must be a collective pronoun for hats

Hi Sarah,I love history and genealogy.I started researching my family back in the 1980’s.My surname is rare and we are all related.Sadly I didn’t become interested in family history until after my dad and grandpa had died.I was fortunate to write to an elderly cousin of grandpa’s and we exchanged info until Bob died.On dad’s side his maternal gt grandparents were German.I have French ancestry on mum’s side.At the moment I’m researching my partner’s mum’s family tree as a surprise for her.I’ve done a lot of work on my partner John’s tree.He has inherited a rare muscle disease from his father which has been passed down the family.Love Jane x

What a handsome boy Jane, but so sad you lost him at such a young age. I never knew my grandfathers on either side and would have loved that. And I lost my dad when I was 21. I wish I had asked more questions of my granny on my mum’s side, as I had her in my life till I was 30. It sounds like you have some interesting European ancestry on both sides -I am regrettably a lot less interesting as I discovered when I did my ancestry test!
