Yesterday I had a telephone appointment with my consultant. He had put a 3 month pause on bcg treatment due to my burning pain when peeing, countless trips to the loo night & day, pain in prostate(prostatitis) and generally worn out due to lack of sleep. Anyway I have only completed 15 out of 27 doses and told him I don't want to continue bcg as my urethra is wrecked with pipes and cameras being shoved up there. Feeling anxious now as just waiting for camera job which hopefully doesn't show up anything untowards. Has anyone else quit treatment early with not being able to tolerate this invasive treatment? Thanks in advance.
Hi
I had my first Turnt on December 2024, the Chemo and Radio therapy.
6 months later I had a camera inspection which I could see the monitor and in my un professional opinion all looked pretty good and I thought that I would be discharged as I was feeling a lot better after all the treatments.
However the nurse said that I needed another resection to clear some slough.
I reluctantly agreed as I was starting to feel a lot better and leading a near normal life.Afew weeks later received another Turbt.
After 3 months feeling pretty rough was given another camera inspection, as you know in itself is very uncomfortable.
I was shocked when I saw the monitor the where many red sores and hanging dead skin. Much worse than after my first Turbt. I must say that at this point I was feeling quite rough and although the consultant suggested another resection, I declined and suggested scans and camera inspections going forward.
I'm now 6 months past the suggested 3rd Turbt and feeling a lot better.
My next inspection is 3 months time.
I have insisted on regular visits to speak to the consultant and look at the latest scans, all good up to now.
My experience tells me to listen to my own body ask question and not just go along with operations which I know set me back months.
Something to think about.
Andrew
thanks for your reply Andrew, exactly my thoughts as well..listen to your own body and not just go along with what the professionals say. I have been through 7 months of pain and suffering and only just starting to recover as I stopped bcg 3 months ago.All the best to you. Regards.
