Hi everyone
I started BCG yesterday. Any tips and advice from friends on here? After the 6 treatments what happens then ? I’m trying to organise working (I’m freelance ) and my brain can’t retain what will happen when! Thanks ️
Hi Joyce,
Hope you found the 1st BCG not too bad.
The first set of 6 are called the induction course. After the 6 you will have a cystcopy and then 3 month's or so later you will have the BCG maintenance, which is a set of three instillations.
This repeats again, but then goes to every 6 Month's.
The total installations does seem to differ depending on the trust's, I'm scheduled to have 27 (done 18 so far).
It's usually a long old haul and mine will have gone on for 3 year's when complete.
Wishing you all the best.

Hi Joyce, well done number one out of the way, I hope it was ok for you and not many side effects. I have recorded my whole experience of diagnosis etc through to bcg and reactions and timeline. I know its my individual experience , but it may give you an idea of what you can expect. just click on my profile. I must emphasise though joyce that we all dont react in the same way to BCG and I have had gaps in my treatment due to illness etc. Wishing you the best of luck. I know there are a few of us on here right now undergoing bcg, so feel free to ask anything. I have number 14 next tuesday phew … time is going by so fast.
Much love Angela x
Oh my Angela I wonder if you know how much your well done meant to me. I immediately cried having not done that for days. Thank you so much. I’ve read your story and identify with so much you said. I wish you health and a positive journey. And again thank you for x
Hi again,
It does differ sometimes but I would say between 9 to 12 weeks after the last BCG.
My dates etc are shown on my profile also.
Angela's profile is so much more detailed but might give you some additional ideas about the timings etc.
Take care and hope the remaining 5 instillations go well for you.

Hi Joyce, well done for coping so well with BCG number 1, you can tick that one off the list now! I had my flexi cystoscopy 4 weeks after finishing the 6 week induction BCG then the first maintenance round (numbers 7,8 and 9) started 3 months after the induction round had finished. The timeline for my diagnosis and treatment is all in my profile. I've had 12 BCG up to now and scheduled to have 24. I have found that it's do-able but the effects of BCG are cumulative, however I'm determined to carry on and keep my bladder where she is intended to be
Keep going, you can do it
Love Ade xx
