I had my TURBT surgery a week ago and I’ve been trying to recover from the surgery. However, I’m still experiencing heavy pain when I have to wee and it’s seems to be passing alot of blood too. The regularity and the urge to pee is getting more and more often. Sometimes, I struggle to pass and when I do manage there bits of clot….
Please advise if I need to worried about my situation or what I can do relieve this recovery process
Thanks
Karl
KL13 . Hi Karl. The pain when peeing usually subsides after a few days, depending on how severe they have been with the scope. It is not uncommon after a week or so to notice some blood clots. This is usually the scab breaking away from the wound. Have you been doing any strenuous exercise which may have aggravated things? It is really important at this point to drink plenty of water, 2/3 litres a day. This keeps all the debris flushed out and helps prevent blockages. There is always the possibility of infection after these procedures of infection. Drop a sample off at your GP to check. If things don't improve or get worse then contact the medics. Best wishes.
The anaesthesia can take a while to fully come out. I had my TURBT at 1:00 one day and I was not able to pass a substantial amount of urine until the following morning at 6:30. Just small amounts at a time. The burning in the urethra will lessen over 2-3 days by drinking a lot of water and passing it. The first two days are the most difficult.
