Received this after 4 TURBTs, interrupted by some remedial work to the heart (CABG) and a quick trip to A&E to clear up a UTI and haematuria, which needed washing out to clear the clots (not recommended):

Your latest bladder biopsies have shown low grade non-invasive bladder cancer. As

per our previous clinic discussion just before Christmas we can therefore proceed to

adjuvant treatment with heated Mitomycin C. I have copied Vanessa Wilcox into this

letter to make the necessary arrangements and hopefully we will be seeing you in

the near future.

I had my first of six weekly instillations this week, to be followed by nine monthly trips to Urology. The chemo is to kill any residual nasties that might be lurking, and I should be cancer-free by Christmas this year.

The previous time I had been in hospital was Christmas Day 1951. I was four.
