Hello, when I was diagnosed the team arranged for quite a few scans & tests, I believe they were looking for secondary sites although this was not fully explained to me. They found benign growths on longs & kidney but monitored to see whether they primarily increased in size. It was explained to me that organs can have growths just like you get skin tags. Not everything is doom & gloom. They have been monitoring yearly. I had 2 turbts and am most of the way through 27 sessions of BCG. You have to force yourself to drink loads of cordial or similar, I do around 10 pints staggered throughout the 24 hours following. This helps with the pain plus I get trauma in the urethar and debris from the bladder which naturally has to come out….eventually. I also find that you really need to empty your bowels regularly & before treatment. It’s a tough journey but I find my diet has changed too lots of decaf products, soups and reduced processed foods
Just to echo Crusader66. Lots of water is what we are advised to keep things flushed out. It might be wise to double check for infection by passing a sample in at the GP surgery. Results are usually back the next day. When I was first diagnosed they identified a nodule on my lung which I was told was quite common. I have been monitored for years and so far it has never changed.. Best wishes.
Hello Crusader66, you're not alone in your bladder pain, I too suffer on a daily basis. Like you I drink plenty of water but what surprises me is that I think diet is so important to how you treat your bladder health. Having said that none of the urology department have ever recommended any dietary advice. I get they are there principally to treat the medical problems you have. When I had bowel problems I did finally get to see a nutritionist. Of course I understand everybody is different and a lot of what food or drink you avoid is common sense but a little guidance wouldn't go amiss.
Hello Jacaranda07, asking the nutritionist brought a smile to my face as I did the same when they handed me loads of leaflets. They can’t tell you exactly what to eat in case you sue them or they get gone for negligence. Decaf and easily digestible wholesome meals and food. Also paracetamol instead of the other pain killers which I found clog me up.
