New to having pancreatic cancer that blocked my bile duct

They resolved the situation by inserting a new bile tube and that’s cured that issue as I was so not well and skin tone being yellow jaundiced too

now I have to contend with the cancer possibly being removed or going down chemotherapy route which does not appeal to me at all.  Hopefully surgery goes ahead and removes all cancer as like my bowel cancer 4 years ago.   Piece of bowel removed and I was told I was cancer free    So now it’s all the worry of being cancer free until the next time it plops up ?   Still all a worry all of the time how do people cope ?

  • Hi

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and my husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 3 months ago.

Like you, he had a stent inserted as his bile duct was blocked which had caused him to have jaundice. Since the stent was inserted his skin returned to normal colour. He is currently having chemotherapy to reduce the size of the tumour in the hope that he can then have surgery.

You ask how people cope and we cope by continuing with life as much as we can. Okay it's severally limited at the moment, as we are trying to avoid the risk of him coming into contact with infections, but we're still continuing.

Can I recommend that you join the pancreatic cancer group as you'll then come into direct contact with others who have that type of cancer. If this is something that you'd like to do, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

    Wishing you all the best
