I have bio duct cancer and secondary liver cancer which i found out in september this year.I did have one session of imunitherapy which i reacted badly to ,from the waist down my body was swollen i could hardly lift my legs and through the amount of fluids in me i developed oedema i had bad sores on my legs and had to have the nurses come round and change the dressings .Eventually i had to have a drain put in and i also developed heart problems and have had to go on blood thinners .The drain released 6ltres of fluid which is called Ascites.

So immutherapy was stopped. Now i am having Gemcitabine and Carboplatin.I do not know yet how affective this has been until i have a ct scan.I am very dissapointed that the imunatherpy hasn't worked for me because it seems it has helped a lot of people and actualy attacked and killed the cancer.

What i hope for is a slow down of the cancer to give me more time.I have read that you should go and get a second opinion which i will look into i have read that some doctors remove the bio duct is this something that could give me time..I get so scared and anxious at night mostly when everything goes quiet, and i get bad things start entering my head.I feel alone.I was hoping that i would find someone that has the same as  i got  so we can relate but so far i have not met that person or persons.

My life has changed and i am trying to hold it together but sometimes the flood gates open and i am lost. What is going to happen to me will it just hit me and that will be it i will go down hill and no one can help.

  • Hi

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

It must have been very disappointing for you to discover that the immunotherapy was causing issues so that you couldn't continue.

I haven't had a second opinion, so don't have any personal experience, but this is Macmillan's information on getting a second opinion which you might find helpful.

    Wishing you all the best
