My partner was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in july.i feel we have had no support.his chemo keeps getting cancelled due to fluid building up.so he's only had 4 sessions.

Does anyone know any other treatment he can be offered

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your partner was diagnosed with bile duct cancer last year and that you feel unsupported. Cancer patients are normally assigned a CNS (cancer nurse specialist) who acts as a point of contact for any questions you might have. Has your partner been allocated one? If so your partner can phone her to ask when his next chemo will be taking place. It's normal to have to leave a voicemail for them to get back to you.

As regards the type of treatment available for bile duct cancer, this will have been discussed at a MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting when all the specialists involved in your partner's care will have decided the best course of treatment for him. Macmillan has this information on the types of treatment for bile duct cancer that your partner's team will have considered.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your partner's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
