I have been diagnosed with anal cancer and starting treatment in a couple of weeks both chemo and radio.
feeling really emotional and anxious re radiotherapy .. is it awful and sore and painful a few weeks in?
Hi Sam (SoniaD ),
I arranged transport via a local charity that services both the NCCC where I had my treatment & the renal unit that is based in the same building but in hindsight I could have driven myself throughout. Having said this the hospital is only a 15-20 minute drive from my home. Do you have far to travel? I didn’t have to drink my water before I left home so I wasn’t travelling with a full bladder but I did have to arrive 30 minutes early to drink & allow my bladder to fill before having my radiotherapy.
Wishing you the very best of luck for Wednesday. I’ll be thinking of you.

Hi Sonia I’m glad to hear you are going to get family support whilst you go through treatment and of course you have all of us on here who are so keen to help support you through this. I love the calendar you got from your friend, how appropriate is that! You will soon be flicking them days over and before you know it, it’s done.

That’s good prep doing a rota for towards the end of treatment, even if you’re ok to drive physically right the way through the fatigue & brain fog can be a bit overwhelming at times so it’s good to have a back up plan.… such a thoughtful gift from your friend, yes I can definitely relate, I definitely found having a visual to see I was checking off each of those treatments invaluable.
