Hi ,
That’s great news that some help is being put in place for you & your husband. It’s such a difficult situation for you. I’m not sure how this will work regarding masks etc. In normal circumstances with you receiving chemotherapy your immunity will be wiped out & I would have said yes in the current climate then visitors would wear some PPE. But with your husbands Alzheimer’s I suppose a lot depends on how he reacts to this too. My aunt receives care at home & the girls that visit her always wear PPE & have done throughout the pandemic. Do you think this will cause an issue with your husband? Hopefully the people that they send to help you will have some experience with Alzheimer’s & this in turn will take some pressure off you as you will need to be able to rest when you feel the need as unfortunately fatigue is a side effect of this treatment & unlike normal tiredness it’s almost impossible to fight your way through it, it’s a bit like wading through treacle!

Hi again ,
If you get a start date for your treatment before anyone has been in touch from social services please don’t be afraid to chase them up just so it’s sure that something is in place for when you need them, I’d hate to think you’re struggling any more than you are right now, you’re going to need to take care of you throughout your treatment.

Hi ,
I didn’t take anything to hospital with me other than a large bottle of water, in hindsight I would have taken some fruit or a couple of snacks as my chemo appointment was in the morning & my radiotherapy appointment was in the afternoon but there was a cafe in the hospital & they managed to fit me in for my radiotherapy early in between 2 other appointments.
All the very best of luck for Monday.
Nicola
