A few weeks back I was in the excruciating screaming poop stage - now I'm 16 days post treatment and I'm definitely feeling some sparkle return!

  • I'm no longer feeling dizzy!!
  • I'm sticking to the fodmap protocol and my body is definitely responding positively to getting protein and eating clean (no more jelly babies and gluten)
  • I've lost 7 kilos so focussing on nourishment and not counting calories
  • My BMs are now predominantly in the am - still experiencing some discomfort but not taking any pain relief
  • I've started little walks - managed two yesterday - so good to get outside!
  • My skins is still a bit sore, my butt is still a bit sore but I've packed away the sitz bath and just using coconut oil to keep some moisturiser in.
  • I'm even well enough to help out with household chores and I'm going to catch up with my parents in person on Monday - whoop whoop!!

I appreciate that it's early days and I feel very fortunate.  And my hope by sharing this, is that it's a reminder that pain passes - it will get better.... moment by moment.  Our journeys and symptoms will be different....but hopefully we all get to sparkle again!!

  • Hi Ali,

What a wonderful message of hope and encouragement!

I know it can be hard to hear the words ‘you’re looking great’ but you really are and your posts are so helpful, inspiring, open and honest.

I remember your first posts when you first got your diagnosis and had just lost your beloved dog and I’m so happy that things are moving forward and you are starting to find your sparkle again.
    Big hug to you x

  • Thank you! It still is early days but in comparison to how I was coping three weeks ago - well I'm amazed...  maybe that's contributing to the sparkle! Sparkling heart

    Have a beautiful weekend x

  • Thank you   - today we're going to try a run over to "Waitrose" and have a cuppa on their cafe - honestly can't believe how excited I am by that prospect!!!

Have a wonderful weekend Revolving hearts

  • Lovely

I can't thank you enough for your honesty, support and encouragement - you provide a wealth of advice and always share from your heart.  Please know that your contributions make a significant positive difference - and I'll be forever grateful!

    Have a beautiful weekend.

  • Oh gosh

I think I've cried a river since the 19 October (colonoscopy day), I still feel like there are many more tears to come too - breaks my heart thinking about Dyson.

It's definitely a journey to get to here and I feel so fortunate and blessed - when you're in it - you're still worrying about what's to come and how bad might it get.  Even today I'm worried about the next BM and also about to try out the dilators!  But - it's been so helpful reading the experiences of others and knowing that there is life after this treatment - it might be a new normal but there's life!!

A massive thank you too for being such a source of wisdom throughout - by sharing your advice and experience - it made such a positive difference to my journey, reading your posts - thank you.

    Enjoy the weekend
