Hello
5 months since my treatment finished and have had few bowel issues, several a day but have managed with careful planning. I had really bad chronic diarrhea, and colic pains on Wednesday and again Friday last week, I haven't had a bowel movement since (still have flatulence) and I am concerned now . I don't want to become constipated as that was so painful in the early days . I am eating ok , plenty water , fibre etc. Anyone else experienced this? My GP said go back on lactulose or Laxido for few days, Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Minty ,
my bowel issues kicked in after 3 months, constant intestine pain , wind and alternating frequent movement to very little.. my first scans this week but have managed to chat to colorectal nurse who reassured me it was normal … but other than taking Imodium when frequent and laxido when not , she didn’t help with the constant discomfort which I didn’t really have in first few months .. like you , I’m 5 months , bum not sore , dilators doing well but the bowel issues are the new normal !! Hope all gets better soon ?
take care
Chrissie xx
Hello Minty2
I agree about not getting constipated; I took Laxido every day solely to avoid that, sometimes you need some extra help. And diarrhoea can happen too, some forum members have identified the foods that cause upset and more or less eliminated them from their diet and then start them again in small quantities to see if they are still affected. I still get flatulence more than two and a half years on. I think with some of us the radiotherapy has had a long-term effect on our digestive system and it just takes a bit of detective work to find out the causes.
Best of luck in seeing this through, I hope you feel better soon (and fingers crossed you aren't constipated).

Thank Chrissie
I am happy to hear it’s not unique to me, I’ve not been as successful with the dilators so well done to you. I had already lots of scar tissue from the hysterectomy. I am hoping that all goes well for your scan which is due soon. Take care
