Hi everyone
I had chemo radiotherapy 2017 with Ned following treatment. February this year I was diagnosed with radiotherapy proctitis. I v had to see my oncologist last week due to pain and loss of bowel control. I m to have MRI tomorrow and and waiting for appointment to have examination and biopsy taken under anaesthesia. My oncologist suspects it might be an ulcer given the length of time since my treatment. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything like this. I’m worried to say the least I was doing well till feb this year.

Hi Pete I finished treatment in 2016 and still my skin splits and is really sore. It heals but a bigger bowel movement and it does it again. Can’t imagine it ever getting better just something to live with. I havnt really had loss of control more constipated.
my Onc didn’t seem concerned and he signed me off a few months ago x
Hi 1redhawk.
many thanks for your reply. I’m due to be signed off in may. It’s hard sometimes not to think the worst. I m pleased you have been signed off and wish you well. I will let you know how I go on if that’s ok.

My oncologist prescribed a gel that numbs the area after a painful bowel movement. I would ask a pharmacist or your GP what’s best so not to irritate it any further.
