  • Hi

I'm sorry to hear that your sister has sore feet and hands and that the cream her doctor has prescribed is not having any effect.

I don't belong to this group but was passing and noticed that your post hadn't had any responses. No one here is medically qualified to advise on creams to use but I'll tag my fellow Community Champion into my reply to you as she looks after this group and might have had this experience.

If no one in the group has had experience to draw on, you could post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist cancer nurses will aim to get back to you within 2 working days.

Wishing you and your sister all the best

    Hi Loveyoulots,

It sounds as like a bet similar chemo regime to mine, where sore hands and feet are a possible side effect.

I've not got a recommendation for creams, but in my centre you are instructed to contact the triage helpline immediately for advice if you're having the problem.

It is worth contacting her emergency number or specialist nurse for advice if she is getting no relief from the cream provided, as they may be able to advise on other treatments. I'm so sorry that she's having that problem and hope that she finds done some relief soon.

    Hi

Sorry to hear about your sisters discomfort, its horrible to see our love ones in pain.

This is the anal cancer group, is this the cancer your sister has?

I know that sore hands/feet can be a common side effect of chemo. Nerve endings can be damaged and patients can suffer with tingling and numbness. This is something that repairs itself over time, after treatment has finished. I experienced this for a few weeks after my treatment finished. It was mainly in the mornings when I woke up.

Skin can also become sore and cracked, not something I experienced so I can't advise you I’m afraid. Hopefully your sisters medical team will be able to advise her further or provide a different type of cream.

I hope she manages to get some relief soon.

    Sarah.
