Cancer spread?

I was all set to start my treatment Monday but I had a CAT Scan that showed 2 nodes in my chest. Now I have to see a pulmonologist to see if the cancer has spread or if this is a new cancer. Has anyone else dealt with this?

  • Hi  I'm sorry about your news, I can't really help but  had lung spots and she has written about it on her bio, you may find that helpful. Sending hugs. Xx

  • Hi  , I don’t have any personal experience with anything similar but wanted to say I’m sorry that you’re having to deal with this right now! I hope this turns out to be nothing to worry about & your treatment can get under way soon.

    Sending you a virtual hug.

  • Hello

I am really sorry to hear about this latest development, just when you were all geared up to start treatment on Monday.  My lung nodule(s) was found during the very first CT scan I had as I didn't want a colonoscopy after a bad experience.  I didn't have that investigated at all, I think they assumed from the very start that it was a secondary from the rectal tumour.

What that meant (for me) was that I had six months of systemic treatment first.  This treats all the cancer in the body, my lymph nodes, cancer in the blood stream, the primary and the lung node.  After a couple of months break I went on to have the chemo/radiotherapy, and a week after that finished, an ablation on one lung and a week after that an ablation on the other lung (they weren't sure that was cancerous but did it for good measure).

This may well be the path for you, please note I am not a medic, but there are several other forum members who have had the same diagnosis at onset and undergone the same treatment path.  However, I am also not sure if the nodules are in your lung or chest which could mean a different course of treatment.

This must be a real worry to you and hope you get answers very quickly, the waiting for treatment to start is always the worst part after a cancer diagnosis.

If I can help in any way at all, please shout out.

    Big hug

I am disappointed too but I am seeing pulmonologist tomorrow morning and hopefully find out what’s going on. • Hello

I am sorry that you had to find yourself here on the forum but you have come to the right place.  There are quite a few of us who were found to have spread from the original tumour during scans prior to treatment starting, I was one, if you read my history.  It does change the course of treatment somewhat and the waiting until some form of treatment starts is extremely stressful.

Please keep us updated on what is going to happen next; the likelihood is that you will have systemic chemo first so there will be treatment, just not what was originally planned.  If this is the case I have experience of this and can give advice on what helped me, I tolerated this phase of treatment very well.

    You really aren't alone.

    Big hug
